BSL teacher training course
Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS):

Just completed PTLLS course? Wish to progress further? This course leads to a national qualification for sessional teachers who teach or train groups of adults in the Lifelong Learning Sector. Successful achievement will enable you to apply for ATLS (Associate Teacher in Learning and Skills).

The course consists of:
• Delivering lifelong learning
• Assessing learners in lifelong learning
• Planning to meet the needs of learners
• Using resources for lifelong learning
• Teaching a specialist subject (BSL language and curriculum unit)

The course is for those who:
• are teaching a group of adults for 30 hours (in total) during the programme
• have completed a City and Guilds 7303 Award in Teaching/Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (or equivalent)
• need to update their existing teacher training qualifications
• have taught regularly for at least one year
• have sufficient literacy skills to complete written assignments
• have BSL communication skills at minimum of level 3

(In order to successfully complete the course you need to have 30 hours of teaching)


Date: 4th Jan 2013 - 14th June 2013
Time: 10:00-17:00
Course fees: £750 (can be paid in instalments)

We also provide opportunities for observation, and give guidance on mentors and work placement (voluntary), which are necessary for completing the course.
