‘Mental Health interpreting' workshop
City Lit Centre for Deaf Education: two-day ‘Mental Health interpreting - Children and Adults Services (In- Patient and Community)’ workshop
Are you working as a CSW or Interpreter and intrigued by the Mental Health domain?
Are you thinking of working within the Mental Health domain in the future but want to know more?
Would you like experienced interpreters to demystify the work that is done in this specialist domain?
Do you have or are you working towards BSL level 6?
If so then this 2 day workshop is for you!
Rob Chalk and Iain Case have over 15 years of experience between them of working within the NHS, National Deaf Services (NDS) and Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
This workshop will take place on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December at City Lit, Covent Garden, London.
There are a Mental Health workshops available – so why come to this one?
• Two consecutive days provide a great opportunity to really get immersed in the training and make the most from the opportunity to put into practice what you learn through role plays – actors will take part to ensure that realistic scenarios are experienced.
• The course will include clarification of vocabulary and jargon, coping strategies and a myth-busting session.
• City Lit is a fantastic environment for learning: located very centrally in Covent Garden*, we have state-of-the-art facilities, a reputation for outstanding teaching and a dynamic, welcoming atmosphere.
*we are 5 minutes from both Holborn and Covent Garden tube stations
Course content
You will develop your knowledge and skills by exploring:
• An overview of National Deaf Services (NDS)
• A day in the life of an NDS interpreter
• Coping strategies
• Vocabulary specifically used in mental health settings
