Part-time Lecturer
Start Date : As soon as possible
Re-engagement Part-time Lecturer £19.11 - £21.21 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience)
Leicester College in partnership with Action Deafness require a Specialist Skills Tutor to work with a group of D/deaf adults who have little or no British Sign Language (BSL) or English literacy skills. Some learners may have come from other countries and may or may not be fluent in their native Sign Language. They also may only have a limited understanding of the spoken/written language of their country of origin.
Qualified to a minimum level 3 or equivalent in British Sign Language, with a minimum level 2 qualification in numeracy and literacy. You will have an awareness of the highly specialist learning needs of D/deaf people with minimal language skills and the cultural implications of D/deafness and be able to incorporate those as an integral part of the teaching style employed through the course.
You will have relevant work experience in communicating with a range of D/deaf people including those from other countries or for whom English or BSL is a second or subsequent language.
If you are a new entrant to teaching in the sector you will be supported in gaining the required Qualified Teacher in Learning and skills status.
